What does the puff of smoke smell like? Try the ALDL to pull codes and post them back here for info. Yes, a Factory Service Manual is a must on these now older cars unless you like the mechanic shops ripping you off.
Hi guys.I tried the SES trick.Altought not much luck.I put a paper clip between A and B with the ignition on ,the fan started up,and then the SES light just kept flashing,it didnt have any numbers come up,nore was there a pattern to the amount of times the SES light flashed. Not sure if i done somthing wrong
You won't see any numbers, what you will see is the SES light flash. For example 12 will show up as flash, pause, flash flash. 42 will show up as flash flash flash flash, pause, flash flash. The sequence will start with 12 flashing 3 times, then the stored codes with the lowest number first (each code flashing 3 times) and finishing with 12 flashing 3 more times. Does that make sense http://members.shaw.ca/corvette86/No...it%20Check.pdf
I think you count the flash,of service engine light. one then 0ne two / three times like that 12 , 12, 12 then the next count's will be your codes. If I'm wrong some will set us both right. Good luck with your Corvette.
Welcome..yep the puff of smoke is probably valve seals, mines been doing it for 7 years lol, don't worry about it for now. GO back and get the code for sure..32 could be something as simple as the EGR switch, 33 could be as simple as a relay. And do get the FSMs or Helms manuals...best $100. you'll spend on it.
