when i have my a/c on air is comming out of defrost vent and heater along with a/c vents. I get some change in air to the different positions, but seems that what ever is diverting the air is not closing all the way.
Does anyone know what controls this.
yes the doors inside the ducting that direct air are vacuum operated. It sounds as if the main line that supplies vacuum to the diverters has come loose, or been crimped or plugged.
***EDIT***
Look around, If you are still confounded, I'll go look at my shop manuals.
Sounds like a vacuum problem. I accidently broke the line that runs left rear of the distributor. That caused air to run from everywhere like you said. Carefully inspect the vacuum lines for disconnection or breakage. HTH :flag
If it is vacuum, on some years there is a vacuum "T" near the rear of the engine that feeds the AC vent system. These "T"s are prone to disintergrate. Check that first as it is a cheap fix. :D
