So, I'm getting the parts for my engine rebuild and I'm looking at exhaust stuff. I'm currently leaning hard toward Magnaflows, but I've got some questions. I'm gonna run Hedman Ceramic LTs, 3" duals the whole way with an X-pipe. No cats, obviously. Since I'm running 3 inch, I don't have to buy vette mufflers, I can get anything with a center in/out. I know that I need to rubber mount the whole system, and make sure the tips extend past the body by atleast an inch. Anyone running a similar system? I'm worried about resonance since this is going to be a DD. Would flowmaster 50s be a better choice? I want a really aggressive note on hard take-offs and I'm worried the 50's are too quite, but with LTs and no cats they may get louder.
The engine's gonna be a fairly mild build. I'm doing the whole bottom end in forged components because eventually I'm supercharging it. For now, though, it's gonna be a 9.2ish:1 355 with a carb, very ported 624 heads, and a pretty aggressive cam (about 270/290 duration and 465/485 lift but I haven't finalized my cam choice yet). The guy doing the engine says it'll be around 425hp/375 ft. lbs at the crank and rev to 8000+, but I'm not gonna really push it until I can afford a new trans. My previous system resonated very badly from 1200-1500, but I didn't care since I was never cruising in the range. I'm really just trying to avoid really bad resonance at 1800-2400 because that is my highway cruising rpms. I don't want it to be so quiet I can't hear it, just not so loud it give me a headache.
