Default Gas tank bolts...

I see that all the bolts holding the fuel pump assembly are rusty and am starting to get concerned since the car was driven in heavy rain today. Are the bolts holes on the gas tank blind tapped? I'm planning on replacing these bolts soon. What is the correct size of the bolts and their threads? Thanks!

They go straight into the tank. There is an O ring under the bolt shoulder. Can't tell you the pitch and diameter.

If they cause you any trouble, just eliminate them, just like you do everything else.

If the o-rings are ok the rust doesn't matter. From what I remember, mine did not rust, last time I looked. Are most of the bolts on the car stainless?

1st though he should ask for advice, then disregard it all and do it wrong, (his way.)

Remove the O-rings, and go up to Advance Auto if you have one near you, they have them. I cleaned up all my bolts on a wire wheel, and replaced the O-rings, and gasket, when I did the fuel pump.

The bolts are a 10mm head. I bought new o-rings at Napa for $0.35 each. Replace the fuel pump assembly to tank gasket while your at it.

I did the same thing and got new o-rings at local hardware.

Default tank

You were lucky after soaking the bolts with penetrating oil NOT WD-40
3 of the bolts twisted off flush in the hole!
