He re-routed the belt to run over the top of the water pump pulley instead of under it like factory.
Also I think UV mentioned he used a pump that has clock wise rotation allowing the belt to go over the top like that.
Just so it's out there, water pump impellers are directional and need to turn a certain direction. Stock Vette WP's turn counter clock wise.
Good work UV, looks great.
Has anyone ever tried to copy one of the aftermarket kits? Sure not rocket science for someone with access to a band saw and lathe. Might cost as much as $20.00. too.
true, plate aluminum, bar stock for pulley spacer, and additional either bar stock center drilled, or allum. tubing, some grade 8 bolts, and a Dayco ribbed pulley. Agent86 made his own and looks great, at one time he had posted a set of plans. The one I bought was a dragon's breath and looks similar, only because I wanted one less thing to work, obviously still need to make a lower support for the alternator as you can see in the pic. was my solution (mild steel tube, and p. coated).
UV, those are some pretty cool looking plug wire mounting brackets. Did you make or purchase?
Russel from Summit they look nice but other than that they kinda suck. The plastic retainers the wires pass through are held on by those crappy stamped self tap nuts and there isn't enough post out the back to grab with nuts (might be ok with thinner wire, but they're supposedly rated to hold up to a 9mm and I'm only running a 8.5mm) so I had to drill a bunch of tiny holes and retain them with clips. After getting that figured out found out they interfered with the cast style centerbolt covers so I had to locate spacers, copper washers, and bolts long enough to mount. Sorry run on but just wanted to make sure no else got stuck buying these thinking they're a simple bolt like advertised. Thanks for the compliment though.
