A while back I made an incorrect statement that my 85 had forged pistons with 4 eyebrow reliefs in them. He mentioned that the correct piston only had one big relief on one side of the piston. He was correct. I would have bet my last dollar that they had 4 reliefs in them but they don't. Part # is 464664. Just wanted to let everybody know.

Good answer! When I started thinking about building the short block that I installed in the car this summer, he's the one who gave me a key idea for it. That was using a 3.80" stroke crank with pistons that have a compression height for a 3.75" crank. This virtually zero decks them (without any deck cutting) and I ended up with a very nice and tight little quench area for improved combustion efficiency. Also I have a 388 instead of a 383 because of this. He also made me understand the difference between just internally balanced and true neutral balance of the rotating assembly. It is now neutrally balanced which is the ideal. Thanks again Jim, it's a sweet little combination with plenty of torque to pucker my shorts!
Oh, he is NO dummy. It is all in his presentation...
And I mean this in the most inoffensive way possible, this Forum has a LOT of differing personalities with the only commonality being we're all Corvette owners and lovers, however,I thought mutual respect(not agreement)and non-hostility were a Given. It's all supposed to be FUN,right?
I'm new here, but it doesn't take long to figure out the people that really know their stuff and he is right up near the top. My only problem is I'm hooked on the my car and this forum. The wife hasn't said much yet, but I know it's coming. Oh well, she has her HGTV.
