Hey Fellas I Just Posted The Message About The Sys Flashing I Was Hoping It Was The Battery...thax For The Quick Response.. You Guys Are Great....next Question What Kind Of Battery Is Best And Whats The Best Way To Take Out....thanx Again Fellas........
Remove the three screws in the wheelwell. One on top of the panel, and there is a hidden one at the bottom of the panel. For the bottom one, just loosen it enough to slide the panel out. Do not try to bend the panel out of the way, you will break it.
Remove old battery, put new one in, reverse the above steps and you're good.
Replacement choices are many, anything but an AC Delco is your best bet.
I have a NAPA/Exide battery in my '93, it's one of those gel batteries.
I have a NAPA Gold in my '95(in case you were wondering, I have a buddy who own's a NAPA store).
Lots of folks go with the Optima red top.
On my NAPA/Exide, I had to cut off the positive post since GM vehicles use the side posts, the top isn't needed. It needed to be removed to clear the bracket for the ECM.
in my 87 you take the plastic side panel off with 3 screws in the wheel well one on top and one on bottom. The bottom one only needs to be loosened. Then the batter bolt hold down and it slides out the side.
5 minute job.
Don't take it out the top where you have to remove the cruise etc.
that takes an hour that way and is a pain
I went through a dozen batteries so I can do it in 2 minutes.
they always would balloon or fail from the bumps
I got an Optima red one this time
It is a real nice battery
gel cell
no acid
holds power even when sitting a long time
worth the extra money and they sell them everywhere now
AC Delco, but throw it in the lugger after three years. If it is a daily driver, anything mentioned above. I use an AC Delco for ascetics, because I show my car occasionally.
