Default New guy with some questions 87 C-4

Hi all,
Hope you can help. Girlfriend has 87' C4 Coupe that has had previous idiots working on it. The 5/32 fuel evap hose from the evap canister to the fuel tank is totally rotted out. GM doesn't carry this any longer, nor can I find any.

Searched the threads, searched the parts, searched everywhere. The closest I can come to, is a NAPA 1/4" replacement. Will this work with the stock clamps?

Secondly, previous idjits also lost the bolts for the evap solonoid and both MAF and MAF burn-off relays (they just dropped them in the fenderwell). Without running in and out of the parts store trying different bolts, any idea what size bolt and thread I should get to make this right.

Thanks so much for your help!

Any gas line hose (close to size) will work with regular clamps...

just take one out and match at home depot or parts store... easiest way.

also: if you plan on working or keeping get a FSM

Thanks Spanks and Vinnie for your prompt response. I'll pull the crumbling hose and bring it on in. I was trying for a 'correct' deal, but this will never be an NCRS car, just a nice driver. Thanks Vinnie for the heads up on the hard plastic pieces, but those are all intact.

I've got a Chiltons, but I'm eyeing a FSM already, considering the work ahead of me. The major tune-up I recently did, really helped. Later on, I also pulled the MAF and using residue-free electronic contact cleaner and a brand new cheap toothbrush, very carefully scrubbed the corrosion off've both grids. They now shine nicely, with none of the oxidization that was built up on there, now gone. This cured the stumble on acceleration from a stop immediately (it still did this post-tune-up, so the MAF cleaning cured this problem).

The little Nassua Blue 'Vette, now pulls smoothly and if necessary, gently away. Now to figure out the error codes I'm getting and they're probably MAF or MAF burnoff relay related, from what I've read here. Got a good multimeter and some mechanical experience, plus this excellent forum.

Sincerely,

Regis AKA F-22

I like the color (I notice you've got exactly the same! ) and the girlfriend is considering a repaint down the road (it does have some fading, here and there, but looks OK for now).

Considering 1987's, I believe there were about 1,280 blue cars built. Surprisingly, if the info on the Corvette Action website, the rare 87's are the dark biege and dark orange metallics. The numbers for the dark biege (read; dark brown) are 163 total and less than 60 for the dark orange. There's a dark biege on Ebay right now (hope I'm correct on this)

If your car has rubber hose from the canister to the tank then someone has removed the hard line. Stock, most of it is hard line with rubber terminators.

lefoy84, , but fortunately, it's just the short rubber piece that runs from the end of the steel line from the tank, to the steel line to the can. It's only about ten inches long and is right behind the left front wheel. Wanted to do it right, but no 5/32 available. I'll try a 1/4 inch gas line (1/32 smaller) and see if it fits with the factory clamps.

Thanks! (this forum is super helpful!)

I've got a line on an 88 Convertible being parted out in San Diego and the guy is looking for the evap solonoid cover, bolts and the MAF hardware. Trying to keep it GM.

Thanx Rick,
I'll give the guys at NAPA a call! It'd probably be better than the smaller size and minimize the underhood wrestling.
