Default LT1 ported head pics

Here are some pics from the guy that is building my engine and also ported the heads. Average flow is 260 intake, 170 exhaust (258-263 was the spread on the intake, I forget the exhaust spread). These are going on top of a 383 and Comp's 280XFI cam. Should make nearly 500hp at the crank. He still has to install the new rocker studs in these, springs are Comp 918 beehives that came with the 280XFI cam kit. Valves are Ferrea 6000 series, 2.00"/1.56".

It's been nearly a year since I've driven the Vette, I am sure it will be a completely new experience!

I've got stock ported heads and they work real good. Yours should make plenty of power.

Nice. What lift were those numbers taken at and what are the rest of the details on your build?

Unfortunately I do not have the flowsheet yet, but I recall those numbers were at 0.600.

The rest of the engine is built with a Scat 9000 3.75" crank converted to LT1 balance (wish I would have gone forged), Scat 4340 I beams, SRP pistons w/ floating pins, plasma moly rings and then of course the Comp 280XFI cam kit which includes the 1.6:1 pro mags, 918 beehive springs, hardened pushrods, guideplates and standard lifters. The block had all the machine work done to it to make everything round/straight/parallel along with oil passage modifications to improve oiling. ARP hardware is holding everything together.

Crap, can't get anything by you! Actually I cross-threaded that about 5 years ago when I did my first plug change (#8). Oops. It never caused problems so I didn't deal with it. A tap was ran through the threads to clean them up when they were ported and it should be fine now. Since you noticed it, I'll bring a spark plug with me next time I am at the shop to make sure it goes in clean and straight.

Thanks

LE2 heads with a custom cam for road racing. He is also porting my stock intake. The LE3 intake valves will hit the stock pistons. I called and talked to Lloyd and this is what he said and suggested.

Its going to cost me just under $2000 for assembled heads, cam, and intake.

A local guy that builds circle track and strip engines. This past summer he has been at Xtreme Horsepower in Tx, working LSx engines and TT C5s.

With the deck height, head gasket, chamber volume and piston dish size, compression will be right around 10.5:1. I really wanted to get up to 11.1 - 11.5:1, but I didn't investigate pistons too much outside JE/SRP.
