Sometime we get so carried away with the electronics we forget the basics.
Knock sensors code and EGR codes were coming and going every couple of weeks.
Twice it pulled 11 or more codes.
Had it in the shop (corvette specialists) for two weeks and a couple of hundred dollars and they could not duplicate problems and everything tested fine.
I am educated in computers, electronics and automotive engineering. I have code readers, factory service manuals, multimeters and all sorts of tools.
While taking a nap one day it hit me. If this was 30 years ago, with no electronics, what would be the problem? Gee, the symptons were what you would have with bad spark plug wires.
Guess what, i had black burn spots on several wires. Spent 6 hrs changing them and fixed all my problems and increased my gas mileage by 2MPG.
Wow thanks for the info, i had a code 43 and everything i tested fine, last week i ran car on track got 13.08/102.8, disappointed, checked the #2 spark plug its bad, fouling, full of oil and deposits, checked in night damn i saw blue arcing with air tube, problem= bad wire on #2. So i will be replacing soon with magnecor from Lpe. This time i will insert plug boots on new wire since its touching air tubes and gets burned just like u mention. The wires i have now is MSD 8.5 and pretty much new. Thanks for sharing.
