Default Brake Master Cylinder Cap Leaking?

Has anyone come across this? It's a reman master cylinder that's been on the car for at least a couple of years. Last night, I saw fluid on the reservoir and booster. I followed it up and fluid was puddled in the cap. Fluid level is about half way. I pulled the cap and the inside looks OK. What would cause it to start leaking now?

For starters, buy a new M/C cap. Ebay--$4.00

Before throwing parts at it, I'd like to figure out the 'why'. The cap fits tight and did not leak before. I figure since the fluid puddled on top of the cap, it must be coming out of the air hole on the cap.

When you release the brake pedal, the piston in the master gives a little squirt up towards the cap, this is normal. If the fluid is to low, the squirt might be hitting the cap harder than if the reservoir was at the proper level. It might be hitting the cap hard enough to cause the problem you have.

I would assume that the hole in the top of the cap should have no direct path to brake fluid, but the fluid was puddled on the top of the cap as if the fluid was coming out of that hole.
Fluid level is half way between min and max and has been like that for a year. I didn't see any leakage until last night.
