New here and have to say this place is loaded with a wealth of info!!
Have an '87 auto that I recently obtained. Trying to replace the VSS pickup on the transmission ... thought it was pretty straight-forward until I went to the parts store to order one. Counter guy asked me if it was for a D9A or D9B? Ran home and looked up the RPO - found out I have a D9B (http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...o/8496rpo.html)
Anywho, that apparenly is bad news since the parts store (Advanced Auto) computer says D9B sensors are no longer available.
Any suggestions for a source on these? New if possible. Thanks!

I believe there are a couple of after market suppliers of that VSS. It definitely is no longer available from GM. The D9B indicates that it is GM# 25007308. That number is used with speedo driven gears with 40 to 45 teeth. You can use the D9A (GM part number 25007224) for 35 to 39 tooth driven gears, by rotating it 180° and installing it upside down. I'll bet your Advanced guy couldn't tell you that.
Thanks for all the info! I did find a listed D9B replacement made by GP Sorensen at the Parts America site (Part Number: 7799506) ... if I find out not available at ordering time, will go with the "A" version and try the 180 twist.
