do I need to worry?
You guys have been VERY helpful in the past to me. I have had my first Corvette, an 88 for about 4 months now. I read a lot about the optispark and dangers therein if it gets wet. I also see, I think, that the 88's didn't have one. I would like to clean my engine, can I pressure spray it in one of those hot water, high pressure, do it yourself places without any worry or concerns? Whatsthe best way to do this?

No optispart on 88's... Me i never pressure wash an engine... just hand clean everything.... but if you must, you need to be careful of the dist, wiring, and the VERY OLD plastic that can break under pressure, etc, etc.

No worries, the l98 doesn't have the poti-spark
. Just stay away from the throttle position sensor...if it gets too wet you'll be replacing it!

You are correct, you do not have an opti
.
I have an LT1, so everything has to be hand washed
I had an 89 Z28, I used to cover the alternator and distributor with plastic bags. I had access to a hotsy then.
I'm sure the L98 guy's will chime in with better advise

I cleaned mine with simple greens auto version then washed it down with the garden hose.
Like said, cover the alternator and distributor .
If you clean the intake area, if you have access to a shop vac that can be switched to blowing - blow out the water.

I find it hard to believe vinnies motor has ever been dirty. Every pic, it looks clean enough to eat off of.
Oh yea, cover the smog pump too. water will kill the bearings.
