Default Which Ecm Sensor ?

In a 90 coupe, which ecm sensor would most likely cause a rough idle, be barely able to drive, stall, and not be able to start for a half hour? The car runs perfectly when started in the morning. It occurs during restarts once warmed up. I mention a possible sensor fault because I have a great spark and 42psi fuel pressure during this no start condition. Once she cools down she runs perfectly again.

First check for codes. Then trouble shoot each of the codes to find and cure the cause of the code. A code that came from the X sensor doesn't necessarily mean that the X sensor is bad, just that bad info came from sensor the X sensor. The trouble shooting is to track down the cause of a code without throwing money at the problem. Your FSM has trouble shooting charts for symptoms (like a bad, cold idle) as well as for trouble shooting codes. Your symptoms could be caused by any number of sensors as well as by no sensor malfunction at all. It's time to roll up your sleeves.

Just some additional info off the top of top of my head. If the temperature sensor (ECT) that feeds back to the ECM is defective, it might give a rich condition when the engine is hot. When it cold the A/F mixture is correct. I don’t know where it is mounted on a 90, but could be in the water pump. If the sensor is open or wiring/connections is bad, it will not be adjusting mixture with temperature.

Check for codes first. When cold the ecm does not use the O2 sensor. That leads me to believe it is involved here.
