hI FELLOW CORVETTE OWNERS! I am having an issue with my 89 and diagnosiing my issues! as my engine warms up to 210 I cannot get a steady flow of fuel to my injectors! IT starts to backfire through my throttle body! Here lately anything over half throttle it falls on its face and doesnt want to run! It doesnt do this all the time so I put it on a fuel pressure gauge and it pushes the 30 psi required at idle! Before I replace my fuel pump I wanted to know if my fuel pressure regulator could cause these symptoms! I appreciate any help you can advise me! I am use to my 79 it is so much simplistic to diagnose!fuel air fire!
be8up: my 89 Vette fuel pressure at idle (with the vac line removed and plugged - stock regulator) was running at 39 psi. This pressure would hold for about 15 minutes after the engine was shut off. If you are having low fuel pressure, have you changed the fuel filter? This is cheap and easy to do. Since you have a 89 model, suggest you check the resistance of your injectors (should be 16 to 17 ohms on each injector).
What is the pressure with vac line removed and plugged ??
If your gauge has a long hose, tape the gauge to the windshield and go for a drive. You should see about 46 lbs at WOT and it should not drop.
Yes, a bad reg could cause this. http://members.shaw.ca/corvette86/Fu...mDiagnosis.pdf
