I am assembling my top end of my new motor and I ran into a huge problem. The stock TPI does not have enough material around the center two intake runners to provide enough area to cover my 180cc intake runners on my Dart Pro1 heads.
Has anyone ran into this problem?
Do the aftermarket base manifolds have larger runners or provide more area around the runner to proper seal? My only other option is to weld material and then have the manifold surfaced which is not what I want to do.
Any help would be great! I am now stuck on this project.
Would Fel-Pro #1205 work better than my Mr.Gasket intake gaskets? Would an Edelbrock base provide more material around the intake runner to properly seal? It appears to me that I could have a leak hear.
Ok I will try another the 1204 gasket but I am still concerned that there isn't enough area left on the stock base to make good contact with the heads. The second picture I have posted in my pictures "mismatch outline" shows the stock base and the outline of the intake runners on the head. There isn't much room left on bottom side.....which is really the top of the manifold since the picture was taken upside down.
