Raping an F-Body is what I'll do. Are the 305 and 350 TPI's interchangeable?
Indeed the maf from a mid to late '80 F-body will work on the Vette.

I swapped the MAF from my '86 IROC-Z (305cid) into my '88 Vette and it is still running well after 4yrs.

Because he wasn't smart enough to fix it. He prides himself on eliminating or bypassing items that malfunction. Wait until you see him driving down the street on three whees after he "bypasses" a flat tire.

I used a hose clamp to hold the coil right on the fuel rail. Its very secure and easy to get to.
You have a hose clamp to jerry rig a coil to the FUEL RAIL??? You have an abomination to bypass the MAF??? Plus, with all the other systems you've eliminated, with no plan, no strategy, or common purpose, you have created an abortion through laziness and ignorance. Innovation??? In the military we called that, "field expediency". Among genuine car enthusiasts, we refer to it as a hack job or a hash job. Ignorance, truly IS bliss.

No wonder he can't fix the car. He can't even construct a simple sentence. He can't stay on subject or follow a simple train of thought, as demonstrated above and HERE. It is obvious there is nothing to be accomplished in all of this. He is beyond help. I am going to quit picking on the handicapped. Until I have something constructive to say...

A good used MAF runs between 50 and 90 dollars shipped to your door, and a small child if given a flat head screwdriver can install it in under 5 minutes; why would you eliminate it?

The MAF relays are about $10 - $15 a piece and they take only minutes to replace as well.

Just curious why you went the elimination route?

You are about three threads too late. Back up and read both pages here. Then you can click on the link in post #29 and start to work your way back from there. It will all become self evident in short order.

Well, if my car runs identically with the MAF (back when it was working) and without, then why use the MAF if the results are neglegible?

My car has made the same power and ran about the same ETs before as now.

Having a 85-89 TPI MAF on and using it is just asking for future frustration down the road.

Heck, there are stock LS1s tuned to run without a MAF just for the convenience of having less "stuff" on the car. Think before posting your one-way, closed minded comments.

GM should have recalled every single 85-89 MAF system in the first place and used a SD system in the first time around.

Somewhere around the US, there is a TPI owner stranded/stalled out on the side of the road somewhere because of this extremely faulty MAF system. He'll probably hate TPI MAF C4s or TPI MAF 3rd gens for the rest of his life!

I compare TPI MAF systems to Microsoft Internet Explorer for a number of reasons.

When your TPI MAF powered car acts up and/or breaks down on the side of the road, GM will fix it for some hard earned money.

When your computer starts acting funny and so slow to the point of going "postal", you probably will have to hire someone and pay an incredible amount of money to get it fixed.

What clever ways of making the rich richer and the poor poorer...

Since this thread is starting to turn political, I'm just gonna stop this for now, before someone starts stalking me with the intent to murder me...

I can only dream about running a good SD system, but the modification to the harness and the installation would be quite a hassle since I am using my car everyday. Right now I'm still running on a MAFless tune on my 165 MAF ECM. Hasn't let me down yet... The memcal broadcast code I'm using is ARAP.

HAHAHA!!! Youd think so wouldnt you. But he isnt. Sure, the car runs, but id really love to have a good look at it and see if its as good as he says.

If i win alot of money Kopbet, im going to bring my 94 over there to the USA and come round to your joint, then we can go down to your drag strip and we will see once and for all if you really are performing abit better than an LT1. (i wouldnt hold your breath, you might die )

results negligible.....just throw a carb on it and be done with it. Think of it this way, more "useless GM stuff" you can take off
