91 Corvette Maybe Running Too Hot
i Brought My Vette A Month Ago. While Doing Routine Maintence, I Discovered The Theromstat Had Been Removed. Needless To Say I Replaced Thermostat And Ran It To See If It Would Run Hot. After Running About 10 Mins., The Temperature Neddle Slowly Began To Climb To About 220 Degrees. At That Point My Electric Fans Kicked On Which Made The Temp. Recend To About 160 Before Cutting Off. Is This Normal For The Fan To Come On So Late After The Temperature Climbs So High. By The Way, I Checked The Oil And Tail Pipe For Sighs Of Blown Head Gaskets.

The chip in the ECM contols the on/off time for the fans. Normaly the fan(s) come on at 228* and off at 217* give or take a degree or two. Sounds like someone previously had the on/off temps changed. IMO, I would not like the fan(s) to cut off at 160*. What temp t-stat did you install?
