Anyone have knowledge of this things? Is it worthwhile or just a gizmo that can't provide payback for what it does? Found this on eBay, the meca of purchase...
For the money I would say no. I have never had one, but know what they are capable of. You can have your PCM custom programmed (flashed) for cheaper with the same "stuff" the Hypertech does and more. This is usually the way everyone goes.

Is it really possible to run Regular Gas in the machine if it's been reprogrammed as Hypertech claims, without risk of engine damage? Yes the power will probably be reduced but the mileage increased.
Others will chime in on the "part". As far as the seller, make sure you read all the neutral and negative feedbacks. Almost as bad as it gets.
Seller is non-responsive to calls and emails and at times takes forever to ship products. Beware.
As far as the product, the Hypertech Programmer, many on the Forum are quite negative ----function vs price.
They are nothing but an expensive way of turning your cooling fans on early and correcting your speedo if you have done a rear gear change. Their "power tuning" if worthless and if you examine the engine parameters they change in Lt1-Edit or tunercat you can see why.
And if that's not enough to convince you, I did an experiment at the track with a stock 1995 LT1 Auto Z28. 14.1 w\ Hypertech "power tuning" vs. 13.6 w\ my own tuning.

Any words on this is appreciated. If this thing is junk, let me know before I do something stupid .

I know some here do not like them, but I like mine because you can change things daily if so desired. It woke my '94 Vert A/4 up. All that is listed on the eBay site is what you can do with it and I believe even more...would have to look at my book.
With a special burn you can't change it at will without sending the chip back to the programmer and you had better take a stiff course as to what makes an engine do what it does best by changing the parameters. Most of what you will probably need is built into the programmer and it can calculate and change the parameters that you want, as mentioned, the temp the fans turn on and a lower temp thermostat for cooler engine operation, correct your speedometer if rear tires are changed to a different size, shift points and firmness, etc. and many more.
I would not want to have a new burn just because I changed tire size or didn't like how the trans shifted after trying it...sure it is OK if you are building a race car and the parameters don't change.
This link will take you to Martel Bros. site and don't let the price you see there scare you, but click on the checkout button and it will tell you what it will cost you ($319.97) and free shipping. And you will get a free T shirt too! May be OK if you wear a small size. If you put your original burn back into your car you can sell it to someone else and get your money back...it works on more than just the Corvette.
If you are building a race car, get the chip burned for what it needs.

Do not buy that one. I paid less than $100 for mine, which is about the most it is really worth. I wanted it to change to 160* stat, change fans, change rear end ratio and the shift points. It did all that, plus hardened up the shifts, but that is about all you can expect.
