i just tried to find poly engine mounts and tried all the guys that make polyurathane bushing and no one makes them for a c4 vette and i looked all over .
Solid mounts would be nice. My '79 ripped the stock rubber mounts out and replacing is not fun. Solid mounts help stiffen the front as well with virtually no vibration noticed in the car.

NitrousSam, put photo of your "custom" Mounts, please
P.S.
If I correctly have understood - them it is impossible to buy anywhere, is correct?
Solid mounts, fabricated and very heavy duty. I will stop by the shop and photo them while I am shooting photos of an 84 hood that another forum member is interested in. I will shoot a couple photos of my 84 that is on the slim fast diet.

Send to me photos of hood also.
I too am engaged in a problem of simplification of weight my Vette.
(i want reach to < 2900 lbs)
how many miles/how many years are the c4 motor mounts good for?
I have a 1990 c4 with 100,000 miles with the engine out right now and am not sure if the motor mounts should be replaced or not.
stock mounts with 100k on them you should change them.the c4 vette is notorious for the engine sinking lower. that when you look at the crank pulley and it is very close to the k frame .on mine couldnt get the belt off unless i jacked the engine a bit it was that tight so i just got some new gm mount because no one make polyurathane engine mounts for a c4.and my car only has 80,000 kms.if you got the engine out just put in new ones ,because sooner or later your going to have to.
You can find solid mounts for C3's anywhere but there doesn't seem to be any available for the C4. I would think that you might be able to modify the C3 solid mounts. Anyone with welding skills should be able to do this. I haven't had the opportunity to investigate this as of yet.

For better or for worse, I am currently installing a new crate motor and will be using brand new OEM motor mounts. That, and I will be adding a torque strap.
I am surprised at the expense, but found them here for $40 a piece....unless anyone has a better price they know about then I guess I'll go ahead and buy them....

I saw the mounts NitrousSam and our buddy made. VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! For that matter, anyone interested in a light weight C4 project is going to be very impressed with this car.
The mounts are top notch product. The guy we know who makes them has built some extremely fast cars and is as meticulous as you can get. He did the cage and rear-end work in my old Nova.
This C4 will rock and the mounts will take a serious beating.
