I've used Speed Pro, but never considered them light-weight. What is the weight of these? Didn't see it on the link. Would be nice that they offer a ligher weight pistons as their prices tend to be very tolerable.
NO! In a case like that, the use of forged pistons fall into the, "nothing is too good for my baby" category. It does more for the ego of the one paying the bill than it does for the car.
RACE ON!!!
this cracked me up for a solid 5 mins this needs put up as a sticky as one of the most perpetual truisms ever stated oin the corvette forum!
The reason most people don't go with forged pistons is typically because they don't want to spend the money. The reality is that a good forged piston is cheap insurance and more importantly it allows you to change horsepower configurations without rebuilding the bottom end. Many of us who start out with a power goal when building an engine end up wanting more power either right away or within a year of building the engine. In many cases people decide to add nitrous or a supercharger later and if they built the engine with cast or hyper pistons the bottom end pretty much needs to come apart if you plan on giving it some serious boost or cylinder pressure.
When you factor in the time and money to get the engine out of the car, buy the new pistons and rings, rehone the block, rebalance the rotating assembly, factor in the assembly cost or your calculate your time to assemble it...and you just blew more than double what it would have cost if you to put in a good forged piston the first time.

not really sure. he told me in our planning sit down they made a nice light weight forged racing piston he has used many times before in motors that make some hard 1/4 mile runs with great success
