My PKE system is on the fritz. Any time I get near the car with the fob, it locks, unlocks, locks, unlocks, etc. until I walk away. I finally had to deactivate the PKE feature. The dealer has no idea what is causing this. He said it might be the receiver but it was really expensive to replace and I should not bother. The dealer and I both reprogrammed the remote but it didn't help.
Does anyone here know what is causing this? If it is the receiver, how much is it and where is it located.
It is designed to lock & unlock automatically when you have the gadget in your pocket. You can turn this option off if you don't like it.
Read the owners manual that came with the car.

Your exactly right When i first got my vette that thing drove me absolutely crazy unlocking and locking the car (turning the alarm on and off beeping and what not) when i washed it with the keys in my pocket lol
Edit: its does it when your within a certain distance from the car not just when its in your pocket it cant really detect its in your pocket lol....
Having it in your pocket repeatedly triggers it since it detects the movement. Then you move a little away and it locks, move closer and it unlocks. Not only is it irritating, but it isn't the greatest to repeatedly cycle your door lock actuators for no reason. So you can either leave the keys in the house, stand real still or just put it in the ignition, it won't lock till it senses it leave range anyway.
I guess I wasn't real clear. What I mean is it rapidly cycles thru lock and unlock continuously. I have about .5 seconds to open the door while it is actually unlocked before it locks again. I'm not talking about the annoying "car washing" syndrome we've all been through.

I would try the cheap fixes first. The fob battery sounds like a good start. You can disable the pke feature by holding the door button for a few seconds, you will hear the door locks cycle letting you know that it registered.
It is a pain to try to wash the car w/pke on . just disable it

Assuming it does it with both fobs and they have fresh batteries, then I'd start by checking connections at the PKE module and antennas.
On the coupe, one is in the drivers door and one is located in the rear of the luggage area against the rear wall. Vert, one is in the drivers door and the other in the passenger door. The receiver is located in the center of the dash along with ten million other things

It could just be the fob is shot. I had a similar problem with a remote control for a TV; it kept cycling the set on and off.
Personally I disabled the PKE feature. I felt it was too sensitive and the "lock" range was too short. If I walked up to the passenger door the doors would unlock, as I walked around the front of the car they locked and unlocked as I reached the wheel on the driver's side.
The PKE was a good idea but the transmitter range (5-7 feet from either door, 3-5 feet from the rear) is too short. It would have been better if the range were 20 - 25 feet away from the car.
