On the right hand side, attached to the evaporator blower, there is a black box about 3" square in which there is a printed circuit board, some resistors and a couple of chips. According to a Haynes manual (I will wash my mouth out) it is the Electronic spark control module (ESC). It has a two numbers on it 10177912 and 06284 both of which I have failed to identify.
However, the knock sensor module we discovered is not here but behind a removable flap to the Engine Managament Unit (ECM) where there is a plug-in module which certainly does deal with the knock sensor signals.
So what does the 3" square box do?
I tried to attach a photo but attachments are not permitted so how does one send a photo?
As I recall (shooting from the hip here)...it's the TPS relay module. I have sold my 92 awhile back but if you have a Helms, look in book 2 towards the rear where they have pictures of all the wiring harnesses. Find the picture for the harness r/s engine compartment. It will show a picture of that 'black box' plummed into that harness.
I have yet to find the part number in the microfiches or at a stockist, hence the difficulty in identifying the item.
Vis Cr___ (can't remember full designation and can't scroll back without losing this) kindly found it referred to in Spanish (Modulo Sensor de Posiciones, but not whose or what's position) and as Sensor AS. The confusion arose because in the Haynes it was photographed and designated as ESC and on pre 92, whereas mine is 94/95 (We are finding some of it is 95 as it was one of the last 94 convertibles). Very confusing.
I hope every job does not invove so much detective work!
My '95 Helms shows that "Throttle Position Sensor Interface Module" and it is for a VIN J engine (LT5) but not for a VIN P (LT1). That might explain the part rarity and price.
My '95 LT1 does not have that part.
What engine do you have, J or P (it's a convert. isn't it)???
Or perhaps the blower housing has been robbed from another car? The plastic housings do tend to break up and fall apart. I replaced the evaporator housing in my '96 Blazer for that reason.
Looking at your earlier posts, e-bay would be a good place to look for a Helms manual. Be sure to get the red, two volume set for a '94. The white, single volume set is a preliminary version. The white book is ok if it comes with all the updates but really never does. As Vic C. says, it's really a shame Helms doesn't go CD. Even Chilton's, Britannica, Thomas Register have done it.
If you don't deal with www.ebay.com yet, sign up then set up a PayPal account to pay and it will really grease the skids for getting items to you. I've bought several things from your side of the ocean delivered to the U.S. that way.
Let us know what engine is in that nice Corvette. Can't believe it's an LT-5.
I have a full Helm's as well as a Haynes (which was what |I bought as soon as I got the car just for some information).
The factory build sheet says LT1, and (mercifully) we have not had to probe to find any engine numbers etc. Is there a quick and easy way of determining which engine it is?
As far as I know, no-one has swapped an engine, unless the factory did so. I just don't know.

There are many pic's in threads inside the ZR1 subset of the C4 section. Easy to spot an LT5.
I meant to suggest a blower swap as more likely than a motor swap. Do the leads from that "Throttle Position Sensor Interface Module" actually attach anywhere? Or it could be that a '94 differs from a '95 that my Helms manual describes.
Sounds like you're having more fun than my kids had with an MG Midget back in the early 80's. Everyone had a ball. Enjoy.
It must be a GPS. The part number didn't show in any of my references. Apparently Casethecorvetteman found it.
RACE ON!!!
Yeah mate, i sure did!! It wasnt easy to find though. I ended up looking in the alphabetical index under "M" for "Module".

Being that it is a 94 convertible, it can only be an LT1 unless its been changed. Does it look abit like mine? (the braided lines and painted covers are not standard)
