Default Intercooler for a C4?

I'm looking at ways to boost performance without melting my engine. I saw this http://www.vetteweb.com/tech/vemp_06...turbo_install/ But I can't find one for a C4. I have a stock bottom. What are my options? I don't want to run nitrous.

for turbo http://www.turbochargedpower.com/
for supercharging- vortech
or buy a 396 long block with good heads
any of these builds will offer good power and cost above 4.5k
personaly I prefer larger displacment with a solid bottom end and low compression to allow for the fourced air latter if you go with a turbo/super on the stock engine you will be at the engines structual limit

I checked out Vortech. I can't find one for an early C4. The HP system looks real nice but not legal in California. I thought that Vortech had a California street legal setup. It looks like they make them for 1992 Vetttes and up. I guess the early C4 bottom can't tolerate added boost.

possibly but I doubt it the issue may be more related to underhood space and belt routing since it is diff on the l98 and vortech may have considered the R&D costs not worth the profit from limited sales.

Sucks that you live in CA any upgrades you do to the engine will be limited by the emissions testing and the EO# reqs I live in IA so no vehical saftey inspetions no emmisions and I don't forsee them in the future. By the way how much older does your car have to get before its considered and antique and you don't have to think about the emissions stuff?

Also look at www.procharger.com they both make blower set-ups for the L98 models.

I ran a Vortech on the factory bottom end L98 and then switched to ATI and pushed it past 570WHP. The L98s are pretty stought engines.

Food for thought:

Before you do anything, talk to Greg at Blower Works. Then go from there.

The early C4 with lower compression are better suited for boost than LT1. The 1984 and 1985 Corvette bottom end has foregd pistons.

Vortech used to have a kit for TPI.
