I just put a glass hatch on my 85 and it has no window tinting on it, and I'd sure love to have some tint to it, by looking at the curve of the glass--Is it possible for a local window tinting shop to do this job or was the tint a factory option (special type of tint) ?

I'd like to know the answer to this question as well.
It was never an option from the factory, however...
Most pro tinters will charge about $150 for the job. Shop around, get who you feel most comfortable with. F-body's rear hatch is a similar curve, so you can look for their work on those cars.
Yes. In fact a really good 'tinter' can do it in one piece, which was important to me as whoever did mine before had used 5 pieces and there were seams everywhere. Local shop stripped both side windows and the hatch and redid them for $140. Just do your homework first to see who is good in your area. Search for a local vette club and ask around.
Definitely can be done. Just as said be sure to find someone good. Better to spend a little more the first time than have it fading and pealing 2 years later. Running into that problem with mine right now.
......is very do-able....i had a guy do 1-piece dark tint over all my car (except ft. windshield) and did it all for $65....a good tinter will use a heat gun and patience to "stretch" and mold the tint over the window surface.
I recently had mine done at this place called Auto Trim, but you're not in the same state, so don't believe that would help you.. But boy what a difference... The shop was top notch as well. It was getting very cold that night, and the shop requested that they keep the car there overnight so that the tint could 'set' in a heated roomtemp. room, rather then freezing and possibly ruining it somehow. I was very pleased, like everyone else said, DONT go anywhere until you've found other people, with a vette or fbody and seen they're work... best of luck,

Aha! cool, I just had mine done at an AWESOME place, did the back in 1 peice, and looks fantastic!
Are you in Crystal River? If you don't mind drving a little bit, the place is in Port Richey, its called National Window Film Distriutors Inc.
On a C4 they like to do them on Saturday, because instead of cutting around the hatch struts and latches, they remove them and do it all the way.
they're on Ridge just east of 19, in that plaza with Solonika Bait and Tackle, next door to Firing Line, and across Ridge from that Auto Zone right there.
Pretty sure it was a C6...Local get together. Guessing by the sharp line by the fender vent that goes back. Once again I was the only bastige with a C4 there.
Does anyone know of a good tinting shop around central jersey? The only one i found said he would have to put a seam in the middle along the defroster line...i'd like to have a one piece tint if anyone knows of a shop. Thanks
