Default LT1 intake on a 383?

I searched but I didn't find anything on this topic so here goes - would it be foolish to put a LT1 intake on a 383? I'm planning out a future build and while I don't want to be cheap in the wrong places. If a LT1 intake isn't a gross hindrance on a 383 It seems it would be the least expensive option for an intake. I'm realizing that the L98 heads and intake aren't going to cut it on a 383 so I guess they will go onto my '93 K1500 pickup

thanks,

The LT1 intake is dry, so there are no coolant cross-over passages which you'll need.

The LT1 intake doesn't have a hole for the distributor, so you'll need to drill one.

As I recall, the holes for the intake manifold on an LT1 intake won't line up with Gen 1 SBC heads unless you modify them (again, I'm not 100% certain on this but I recall hearing that during a conversation with a GM powertrain engineer years ago).

Thanks 96GS#007 I'm aware of the modifications require to make the intake work. I'm more concerned with the kind of air the intake can flow. Building a 383 then bottlenecking it with an inadequate intake would not make much sense. Thus the reason the L98 intake has to go.

I have no direct experience, but given all the 383 LT1s there are out there producing tons of power with stock intakes, it appears to be adequate.

I've seen flow numbers on the LT1 intake at some point in the past on another board, but couldn't find them right now with a quick search...

Its perfectly fine to do so, it wont choke it. I would try to portmatch any intake to the heads however.

The torque of the 383 will make up for the LT1 intake's lack of low RPM pulling, so gears should be less necessary.
