Default BUYING the HOTCAM

I'm ordering the GM Hotcam kit from Summit for Christmas. What else am I going to need? I think I'll need an AFPR and new injectors, also plugs...not going to do the OPTI. I just dont know which injectors to get. I think maybe a new throttle body as well. I want to get the throttle body and exhaust from TPIS. I'm going to have the PCM done through the mail. Is there any need to port LT4 heads? My goal is to have the LT4 run like the engineers at GM wanted it to. I'm looking for a solid 400HP at the crank. I think this cam, and some headers equal length headers should do the trick.

I went with SVO 30lb/hr injectors when I did the top end on my '93. I'm thinking that if you're just doing the hot cam, you don't need new injectors. What's the budget for this project?

If you port your heads then you will need a larger cam to support the heads. Not a bad thing really but it just means you need to order something else other than the hot cam

2K isn't going to get you everything you want as you'll spend that on heads alone. Listen to Tom - he knows his stuff!

No need for new injectors with just a Hot Cam upgrade. Your stock 28 lbers will work just fine.

And no need for an AFPR. Spend the money on opening up the exhaust (LT headers, cats, cat-back), gears, and a tune.

Oh - you will need a new timing chain. I suggest Cloyes
