Default Cat. Converter Question

On my 96 lt1 does the cat have any airtube connections? Or are there any electronic connections? Basically is there anything preventing me from installing aftermarket Hiflow cat?

No air tube, no electrical connection, and nothing keeping you from installing aftermarket cats. I installed 3" Dynatech PowerCats in my 94.

Unless you are planning on installing long tube headers, I would just stick to the stock cats. The stock LT1 cats flow really well.

Now all I have to do is pick the right headers. I think I will do the job myself,Ive done them before on f-bodies. Im retaining the air fittings too. Or I can have my exhaust shop install for $150 a side, what do you guys think?

What headers fit the best and flow the best? Keep in mind I will be using these headers on my 396 Im having built later on.
Alot of personal feelings but in general.
Thanks

I would do the header install myself and save $300. But, you will need a little work done on your cat-back to fit the headers.

My personal preference for headers is the EM long tubes.
