Default Front facia

Anyone have any pix of how this actually goes together?

I ordered new brackets, and the brackets for the top lip of the bumper cover are not tapped like the '87 brackets were, and from this diagram the parts guy and I can't figure out how the heck it bolts on.

http://members.cisdi.com/~anesthes/facia.jpg

Here is a printout from the parts guy ^^ Any help, or pictures would be appreciated. For reference, I have bracket #9 bolted to the impact bar (#22). I dont know how the bolts attach the bumper cover to it because it is not tapped. I thought maybe clips go over it, but the top edge is rounded.. ?

Joe: From your words, it is difficult to determine what part you are replacing. Is it the energy absorber, front facia or what? I have removed the front on my 89 three times and may be able to help you if I know what you are trying to do. Happy Holidays

Hi!

On my '87, the front bumper cover bolted to this bracket that was mounted on the impact bar. This bracket was threaded for 5mm bolts (10mm head).

When I swapped to the 91-96 front, I replaced the impact bar, foam, and that top bracket. The 91-96 style top bracket is not threaded. To make matters worse, its not flat on top, it has a small lip, so it doesn't appear that a clip slides over it.

What I need to know is:

1) Does the bumper cover stretch over this bracket like it does on the '84-90?
2) How does the bumper cover bolt to it, with clips on the bracket, clips on the cover, or some other means?

And pictures would help. I'm stumped. I just don't get it!

Ok. I'll paypal $10 to the first person that send me pics of the brackets with whatever bolts them to the front bumper cover, and how the bumper cover bolts to them. I've tried a few different clips right, and nothing works right with that front facia bracket.

Are you talking about this part, or the center top?

The center top. If you look at this link:

http://members.cisdi.com/~anesthes/facia.jpg

I purchased the impact bar from a guy, and I purchased the bracket on the top of the impact bar (#9 in the picture) from the dealer.

I cannot figure out how the bumper cover bolts to it. On the '87, the cover stretched over it, had a trim plate (#25 in that picture) over it, and the #9 part was threaded.

On the '91-96, #9 is NOT threaded, so I'm assuming some sort of clips go in there? The dealer cannot help me

On the top of my front bumper where the little section is. I got in a wreck and that is out of line. I have looked there and they are similar to plastic screws right there in the crevice of the hood when its up. Is this is what you are talking about?

Sorry, I can't help. I have what appear to be sheet metal screws in there, and the facia appears to be sandwiched between 9 & 25 as you say. I just can't see what kind of fastener is in 25 without actually removing my facia. Maybe it is part #24??

Thats what I'm talking about. I'm trying to figure out what those screws screw into.

I ordered #24, which are clips, but they don't fit over #9. #9 isn't flat, it has like a top on the top. (which I dont quite understand either).

Nobody has a picture or can give help? Someone HAS to have had this apart.

After having it on and off 5 times, I came to the conclusion that it's 6MM clips on the cover, which goes against #9, and bolts with 6MM body screws. Seems to work fine. I'm done.
