Default Hawk HPS Brake Pads

Hey ALL,

On to the brakes.

Looking at the Hawk HPS pads. I have the 13" in the front. It's a 1995 vert.

What kind of recommendations do you all have for pads. Are the Hawks a good pad?

Thanks!!!

I like the NAPA Ceramic pads. Good stopping power and NO brake dust. Little more expensive than autozones duralast but you get what you pay for....

I have the HP+'s. It's a great pad, seems to work a little better when they're warmed up. I do the occasional road course event, and thats mainly why I went with them. They squeal a little, maybe 1k miles on them, not sure I've heard many others complain about it though. When they're really hot I don't hear any noise though.

I am on my second set now. Also 95 vert with 13" front rotors. This time I added SS lines and new rotors.

I just completed this mod, and believe me, the difference is amazing.
It feels like the car stops twice as fast as it did.

Andy Bogus did a write-up on Hawk HPS pads a while back. I took his advice on those pads and purchased Hawk slotted rotors. That was the best combination yet. Stops on a dime now.

I put on Hawk ceramic all the way around from Tirerack a year ago and love em. I also flushed the system and installed the brake bias spring. Definitely more stopping power and only light dust.

I always use Hawks.

Pros: They stop on a dime and last quite a while. I couldn't be happier with them.

Cons: They are known to squeal and make a lot of brake dust.

I have them on both the Vette and the Altima. Night and day improvement from stock pads to the Hawks on the Altima. I've always had them on the Vette, so I can't compare.

I have EBC Sport rotors (dimpled and slotted) in the front of the Vette and Brembo OEM replacements in the rear. The altima has Brembo OEM replacements in the front.

I've been having a hard time deciding on pads too. I'm almost sure about going Hawk HPS, but I don't know much at all about ceramic pads, and if they would suit me beter

I just installed AC Delco ceramic pads and GM Performance drilled and slotted rotors on my GS and love them. Looks cool, dead quiet, and almost NO dust. Best of all, only $400.00 for everything on Ebay!

Sounds like HPS will be the choice. I hoping to get the rotors turned and reuse them.

The only way you'll ever find out which is the best pad for you is to try each of them.
Seriously.

A few months ago I did the J55 upgrade with HPS pads. They work great, I have had no squealing, and a lot less dust than whatever brand of pad was on there before. Go for it!

I have a 92 Z07 and 93 Ruby with the big brakes. I have HPS on both, and work great. No noise, and usually only notice dust after a day at the track. (They are both street cars). I want to try the HP+ on the track car when the HPS need replaced.

I love my Hawk HPS pads. Big difference from what ever I had on before. Had them on for a year now and they are still working very well.
