Those in the know also believe the huge gap causes premature opti failure. Sounds reasonable to me.

Changed my factory plugs for the first time at 54K miles and 6 of them were missing the puck. I also had a bad opti at the time (it had never been run in the rain or gotten coolant leaks on it).

Cap and rotor failure maybe, but not optical trigger failure.

Changed mine out about 2 months after buying the car, with AC Delcos'. Last month when going through the rocker arm/valve spring change out I decided to install new plugs (had to pull the old ones anyway) and I put in NGK TR55s Can't really tell you if they are any better as I haven't had a chance to drive it much.
