im not much on diagnosis, so could someone give some advice here, after driving my 95' today, i noticed underneath the engine a puddle of green antifreeze on my floor,, not any place close to upper or lower rad hose, so where else should i look for it to be puddleing centered under engine???? thanks rj
Usually, the water pump. From the weep hole on the bottom of the water pump. But that is in the front of the engine, are you saying it is from somewhere else?
yes , its centered between the wheels ,left to right,, and pretty much centered even with the wheels front to back,, odd huh?,, thats where the puddle was,,,,,rj
On my bros 92 his was leaking from the weap hole and the car still ran 190-200 degrees in 90+ degree weather and didn't make any noises. If it's leaking from the weap hole i would replace it before it soaks the opti. We found out his had been leaking when replacing the opti. I would check all hoses especially around the TB and also look the water pump over good before replacing anything. Just my $0.02.
Sounds like the water pump as suggested. With the engine running look to see if there are drips under the car. A flashlight will help locate this. Is the coolant level low?
Go to an AutoZone store and ask them to pressure test the radiator.
They take off the radiator cap off and pressure the system and in effect, force out coolant from where it is leaking. Its fast and free.
If it is coming from the weep hole or anywhere else on the front of the engine, some of it will get on the belt and get slung on the underside of the hood. Look for a line of green dried antifreez on the underside of the hood just behind the headlights.
You really can't tell much from where the puddle forms because the coolant will follow the underside of the car till it finds the lowest spot and drip from there.
