Default [NEED]: TPS Screws..

....or an equivalent. One of mine is on it's way to being stripped, so I would like to replace them (if possible) before they actually are.

Scorp, I am pretty sure I have a set of new screws at home in the bag.
I'll check when I get home from work, if they are still there you can have them.
If I forget to get back to you drop me an email reminding me.

You might try Home Depot. The last time I was there (looking for Plenum and Runner bolts of all things), they had a nice assortment of metric socket heads (as opposed to Torx). The screw length is 25mm and it looks like the thread size is either 4mm x 1.00 or 5mm X 1.00 (sorry I can't tell you, my smallest die is 6mm X 1.00). Maybe someone else can post the thread size.

I can almost gurantee you won't find them in any hardware store. If I remember correctly the thread is actually 4.5mm which is not a standard size. I went through this when I swapped in a 52mm throttle body on my Camaro a few years ago. I looked everywhere.
I ended up buying 5mm socket head screws and re-tapping the holes in the throttle body.

I can tell you for sure that TPS screws are not a standard size. My calipers say they're 4.5mm diameter threads. I couldn't find any generic replacements anywhere, even from specialty fastener suppliers. Even Contemporary Corvettes didn't have a used set they could sell me. I needed some a few months ago and Mash557 was kind enough to send me an extra set he had. As far as I know, you can only get new TPS screws with a new TPS. They're not available separately. Be sure to use some anti-seize on these screws when you're reinstalling them.

Hmmm; to satisfy my curiosty, I'll check at Home Depot the next time I'm there. In the interim, you might try Street and Performance, (501) 394-5711, http://www.hotrodlane.cc. They seem to have a ton of tuned port parts (both stock and high performance). In fact, that's where I finally found a nice set of polished stainless runner and plenum bolts (button top/socket head) as well as a new set of runners.

Yep, Home Depot's got 4 & 5mm X 1.00 socket head, phillips and hex bolts, but no 'tweeners. You need 4.5mm X 1.0, 25 mm length. Maybe a computer or electronics store? Fry's if, you got one, has all sorts of dodads, though I've never looked for bolts there.

I'd seriously think about re-tapping to 10/32 and using stainless socket head screws...Available from Valu or Home Depot or Ace Hardware...

Guys just FYI I have a metric screw checker and just checked these again.
They are 4.5mm x .75 pitch (coarse) x 25mm long.
Scorp, email me your address if you still want these screws and I'll drop them in the mail tomorrow morning for you.

I think .75 is "fine". Doesn't the metric scale adapted by GM increase as it goes from fine to coarse; ie, .75, 1.00, 1.25, 1.50 since the measurement is the distance between threads in millimeters? What the hell - what do I know? Let's hope this is the right size.

I can gurantee you this is the correct size.
.75 is coarse, there is actually a .5 which is fine.
The higher the number the more coarse the thread in this case.
Like I said, the 4.5mm is an oddball size you will have a very hard time finding.
Best bet would be to re-thread the holes.

GM part # 17110848. It is a complete TB hardware kit. It should be about $25. Hope this helps.
