I just got march underdrive pulleys for my 87, but I can't get the pulleys off the alternator or water pump pulleys, even tried a strap wrench and a breaker bar. but nothing seems to work. just wondering if anyone has any ideas, thanx in advance
Alternator nut will require impact gun. Water pump should be able to be loosened by hand maybe shocking them loose with a small hammer on the rachet or breaker bar while someone else holds the pulley still. It helps immensely to loosen them with the belt still installed.

i don't think he needs a gear puller ,he just wants the stop the pulley from spinning to take the bolts off.the alt you need a impact gun and the water pump i just keep a old belt around for things like this i wrap a old six rib belt around the w/p pulley use a 1/2 inch ratchet to twist the belt until its tight around the pulley and the ratchet acts like a wedge then you can remove the bolts.its not pretty but it always works for me
i got 2 pulleys off so far, just gotta get the water pump off, but it shouldn't be hard with all the good advice. i used a socket welded to a tire iron and a mallet to get the alt pulley off. thanx for all of the help
