Default got another vette

well we ended up getting rid of the old 84 because I am in the military and moved to Hawaii. and we just recently picked up an 87 for $2500. its kinda rough but the worst is cosmetic from some idiot with gold and red spray cans. I could post some pics but it would make some of you want to cry.

well its nice to have a vette again missed the way they drive and this one is a Z52. but wish it had the 84's springs actually. I liked being able to feel the road. (I think I know where there is wrecked 84. I may have to swing by and find out if I can buy it.)

with the 84 we were planning on getting rid of the crossfire and had already bought a Holley Stealth Ram system for it just never got around to putting it on. so I have a question about the heads for the 87. before I start taking it apart to find out the hard way that the intake wont fit I thought I would ask here. when I bought it I know it would fit the 84 fine but I can not find out whether the 87's had a change in the design. other than being aluminum and center bolt valve covers.

ok here are a few pics,

since I had the stealth ram system I decided to add this to it. bolts right to the TPI plenum.

58MM Holley TB. I know it wont work to its potential but it looks a lot better on there. bypassed the coolant too.

here are some pics of the engine cleaned up a little. I kinda got into it a little and decided I wanted to make the plenum polished. still working on it though.

I plan on stripping the valve covers clean and powder coating them. I am thinking red with the fins polished.

I went powder coating on the intake too. Did mine in red to match the car.

That looks nice. since I want to put in the HSR I dont think I will do the plenum on that. it isnt the poliched one but it looks nice like it is. maybe Ill polish that while its new still.

well its my wifes car and she wants to repaint it yellow. I have beentrying to talk her out of it because I dont want to deal with the interior, door jams and everything else. the only color she is considering is gunmetal. which I really like on these but still the same issues. its got the red interior which got its share of red spray paint too. so I am thinking all new/used stuff anyways inside. gonna be expensive.

nice huh. lol Gold os my second least favorite color other than pink. and every time I try to clean something up that has gold I get mad. thats kinda how I ended up deciding to go polished on the plenum. I wanted to get rid of everything that had gold on it. and its kinda hard when the plenum is textured.

I agree with "some idiot with red and gold spray cans". Man, that's hideous. GOLD???? WTF was HE thinking?
That's gonna be a lot of meticulous hand-work cleaning it all up. I think I'd take a pair of tin-snips to that cheap-assed hose braid, too. I'd try lacquer thinner or paint remover on the plastic parts first.
I don't envy you (or your back). Lotta work, but it'll be nice when you get 'er done. You'll have something you can be proud of.

PS---Now you'll have to change your sig to "MY87REDC4".

Heads should be the same bolt pattern (except for the valve covers).

You wonder what goes through someone's head when they do stuff like this.

I'm a real hater when it comes to fake braided lines, not only that it looks like crap but it also raises under hood temps for no reason. They act like a radiator around radiator hoses. Then when you figure out they serve no purpose you take it off and are left with snake skin looking hoses from the junk burning into the rubber.

I know this sounds stupid...but sand blast it. It looks like crap. Atleast all that god awful paint will be gone. Your metal will be nice and clean though.

well I got the TPI off and just set the HSR on to see if it will fit.

for now we are going to get another hood and cut a hole in it. then eventually we are going to get a good cowl hood on it. they are a little too expensive plus the shipping to hawaii. I can wait. lol

Red and gold huh, where did you pick up the car, Waipahu???

I'm on the Big Island and can attest to the screwing we take on shipping charges, guess what, effective January YOU guys get a general excise TAX INCREASE AND YOUNG BROTHERS has applied for another rate hike. Luck we live Hawaii!!! But I guess 83 degrees on Christmas day wasn't bad.

Good luck with the new toy.
