way too much if all they are doing is cutting off the mufflers. For $100, you could buy your own sawzall and have them off in 10 minutes.... $20 or $30 would be reasonable if you had a shop do it ....IMHO.......
Not to bad then, but you might want to think REAL hard about doing it. Sound, resale value, etc. It will be loud and not nessarily good depending on the job and the tips.
i like mine cuttoff.. i have longtube headers, no cats, and it sounds fine at idle .. when you hit 5000rpm watch out and make sure that no five-0's near to ya cause it can get real loud...yet the loudness depends on you and the throttle
I wonder if the others ever actually heard a stock exhaust C4 with only the mufflers cut off. I had that set up for about a year and it was not too loud for me. Some of the flowmasters I have heard are louder then the muffler elim. It is all a matter of taste and some people don't like to hear the exhaust at all. Look for a sound clip or someone who has the setup. Getting back to the original question, it's been a while but I think I paid around $65 for a local shop to do it. They did a very good job. IMO

Sounds is highly subjective and having aftermarket/no exhaust is not going to hurt resale value enough not to enjoy the car while he has it.
Actually, I have (owned a couple). It's all just a matter of preferance. In my experience, it turns off alot of buyers. Having said that, it's still a free country, and it's your car to enjoy ANY way you want.
I am not worried about resale value.I will have this car till I am dead I wish I could make it sound like a mustang though. You guys have to admit the stanges sound good

Yep. I love the sound of the SVT Cobra and Mach 1. I believe its the way there firing order is. Ford spent some time perfecting the sound. Our cars are made for torque/horsepower....Mustangs are I guess you could say a sports/sedan/economy car? Either way I wouldnt trade my vette for a mustang no matter how good it sounds.
You mean like strange engine knocks, lifter clatter, and assorted mystery sounds??
For cutting the stock mufflers and replacing with blank pipe, $100 is high unless you are getting some new tips at the same time. I would not expect to pay more than $60 to $75.
Curtismoff,
We just had that done to Jennfer's (Ruby18823) Vette. 81 dollars including tax, and we provided the Corsa tips. Took about a half hour. They did a pretty good job of welding everything up, and now Sid sounds great!
