Default 1984 Instrument cluster pinouts?

Does anyone have or know where I can get the pinout descriptions for the 1984 dash instrument cluster, or any technical specs on it (or the cluster) at all?

Thanks, Dan

Hi Dan,

Are you referring to the 32 Pin Connector or the 24 Pin Connector?

IIRC that info is in Gordon Killebrew's book.

Hi Dan,

The 24 Pin Connector gets inputs from the switches in the DIC to switch 'modes' ie;

Instant/Avg. Fuel
English/Metric
Oil Pressure/Oil Temp
Volts/Temp

The 32 Pin Connector looks like power, ground , sensor and a few switched inputs.
Switched power, lamp briteness control and tach signal also come into this connector.
THe only 'fancy' input I see is the MPG serial data line that would have to go to the ECM.
All the rest looks like plain 'vanilla' mostly analog inputs with an interface thrown in for the cruise control.

Your TV remote control is probably more sophisticated than our digital dash.

Gordon K's book may be just what you're looking for.

Actually both of them. I am getting a copy of that book so hopefully that's got some of the info I need.

Thanks.
