Have an '85 w/13k original.. the interior lights cycle as they should but come on magically and kill the battery. I am told the timer is discontinued....anyone know where to find one or another possible solution? Thanks

Try removing the timer, open it up and clean the contacts. Reinstall and it should work okay. Worked for my 85.
Bypassing works pretty good. Basically it eliminates the timer but still allows the lights to go on when you open and close the doors and hatch. Find the timer which is behind the breadbox taped to the harness, cut the white wires out from the timer and splice them together. Now your door pin switches ground the interior light circuit rather than the timer. Hardest part is finding the timer. I think I removed the plastic hush panel, dropped the ECM and reached up to the thick wiring harness that runs horizontal behind the breadbox. If you're lucky you'll be able to feel the small box/timer that's taped to the harness. Hopefully you can use a flashlight and see the color of the wires. There's a pink/white, pink/black, white, black, and two additional white wires going to the module. If you can cut the tape and pull the module towards you, then you can cut the white wires. I guess another way to bypass the timer would be to find the white wire that goes to your door pin switch and tap into it, then find the white wire that goes to the footwell courtesy light and tap into it with a piece of wire between the two. It's easier but would be my second choice. Hope this helps.

On my 85 when the timer went bad, I jumped white to white on the timer with it still plugged in to fix the problem. As stated, I just lost the delay feature; all interior lights worked as they should.
Try this with your 13K car; I wouldn't want to cut into the harness, JMHO.
