Default LT1 camshaft recommendations

I've just had my heads and intake ported/polished and gasket matched. The car is going to be street driven with the occasional drag strip appearance. The engine should sound stock and be realiable, steetable in everyday traffic.
(95 coupe, 6spd, C5 brakes, stocke exhaust)
I was thinking of the Lingenfelter 219 cam. Does anyone have any other recommendations on cams or specs I should be looking at?

I don't have the paperwork on the flow tests yet, but I know the machinist has done a few of these heads and says they show "big improvements, even with gasket matching".

Either the GMPP Hot Cam or the LPE 219 will work will. If you have to worry about emissions I would use a LPE 211 cam that has 211/219 duration numbers.

I used the 211 cam on my automatic 94. It idles and acts exactly like stock if that is what you want. With a similar setup to yours mine made 316 RWHP, I shift about 6200.
You can definitely make more power with more cam but that should give you an idea what the 211 will do.

Just out of curiosity, have you raced it at the track? If so, what were your times like? My stock 94 only put out 250 RWHP and I'm hoping to get at least 300 with ported & polished heads, new cam, shorty headers.

I took it one time, I was less than happy with the ET at 13.2 but was pretty satisfied with the 105 MPH trap speed. If I had a decent set of tires that I could have gotten it hooked up I think it would have busted high 12s without a lot of trouble.

I think I'd be happy in the low 13s, Low 12's would be nice, but for nominal investment low 13s is going to be good. I haven't raced mine but I'm sure its still low 14s or high 13s

I like Comp Cams XFI series. The 466 grind may suit your needs.

Idle curiosity here but could you tell me the stock lt1 cam, lt4 cam, and lt4 hot cam specs side by side by side?

Would going to 1.6 RR with the lt4 stock cam in an lt1 do anything but make me look goofy?

Nope, that's about all. Make you look goofy.

You can accomplish about the same thing by installing 1.6 rockers with your LT1 camshaft.

I looked this up and it seems like a pretty good combination or is this too much?

Operating Range: 1800-5800 RPM
Duration Advertised: 268° Intake / 276° Exhaust
Duration @ .050'' Lift: 218° Intake / 224° Exhaust
Valve Lift w/1.6 Rockers: .570'' Intake / .565'' Exhaust
Lobe Separation Angle: 113°

How does this compare to a LT4 - Hot Cam?

I would think in my estimation with that kind of lift, 570/565, she's going to have some lump to her idle and it'll probably hurt your mileage.

Lift has very little to do with a lumpy idle, or decresed gas mielage. My car has 605/622 lift and still gets 26-28 mpg on the highway, and this is with 4.10 gears.

That will idle real nice and make good power. The idle wont exactly be stock, but it will be close. Noticeable is how I would describe it. Easy to tune, good low RPM driveability. If you can get that on a 114 it would idle even better.
Hot Cam:.525/.525 218/228@.050, cant help ya on the LSA, but I would think 112-114

What about a custom cam to meet your needs? Theres a guy on the camaroz28 forum that makes custom cams for some of the head porters.

Can't see you getting this kind of mileage with that much lift, AND those gears!!! You can't have your cake and eat it too!! You have modified your car for acceleration...short gears/ high lift cam. BOTH directly affect your mileage, even witha 6spd I can't believe you are getting that MPG figure.
