DOH!
I was going to make the balancer after i took the opti out. Decided to crank the engine and get the prong out of the way. So I feel like a *** as I knew I had to mark it.
I read somewhere that it doesnt matter how its aligned. Comments?
On most LTx cars the balancer is neatral, and won't matter which way it is installed. But, I have heard a few are balanced using the balancer/dampner. Even though the balancer isn't keyed, the cranckshaft has a cut for the key, Check on the inside surface of the balancer and you should see a shadow where it was aligned to the cut on the crank. Then reinstall aligning the mark to the cut in the crank.
If that doesn't work you can bring the engine to TDC #1 or #6 cylinder, and install the balancer with it's pointer at 12:00.
What the heck year are we talking about? Even if the LT1 hub is removed without marking it and you want to get it back on in the original alignment just look inside it. You'll see where the keyway was inside the hub, make a mark on the outside (hub) with a sharpie along that line and install over the keyway. The balancer will only go on one way.
