Default Superram install complete

and it only took three months.

Seriously tho, got the car running today, and it sounds pretty good. Have to get it tuned and have a new chip made. That will be done soon. Along with the superram, I put a Lingenfelter cam, Brodix heads, Melrose exhaust system
and Harland Sharp 1.6 roller rockers. I have some real nice Brodix valve covers but they won't fit under the a/c or the wiper motor. The ones on there now, I stole off my t-bucket.

I'm really looking forward to getting it tuned, to see how good its going to be. Its really pretty good now, so I can imagine the tune will really bring it to life.

Looking back over the project, it always seems like it was'nt too bad to do, but at times during the process, the aggravation factor was a killer. Funny thing about the whole process is, the superram intake and plenum were'nt the hardest part of the job, contrary to everything I'd heard.

Just tearing the motor down and replacing the cam and heads is work enough.
The front of the motor is a bear to take apart, what with all the brackets and all. One of the worst thing was vavle covers. It took three times just to find a set that would fit around the a/c and the wiper motor, the passenger side is a real pain in the ***. You have to practically remove the a/c compressor to get the covers on.

The superram runners and plenum actually were'nt that bad, and I'm crossing my fingers and toes as I say this, because so far no vacuum leaks. You just have to take your time and make sure everything is tight, because once you put on the plenum and the valve covers you can't go back and even check anything. You actually have to remove two rocker arms on each side to tighten the bolts on the runners. And if anyone here ever does this, adjust your valves and put the valve covers on before you put the plenum on, makes it much easier.

I guess the biggest problem is the lack of space, everything is so tight, not much room to do anything. Just putting the plug wires on the distributor is a chore, although we did it so many times it got easier as we went.

Anyway that about sums it up, and I'll let you guys know as soon as I get the tune done.

Here's a couple pics.

Nice valve covers. Where'd you get them and do they make them for a 92 LT1?

Good luck with the Superram.

Did a test drive yesterday, did'nt push it too hard for the first time, but it pulled really hard. Having a new chip burned, should have it in a week or so, hopefully I'll see even more improvement. So far, so good.

Bob

Can you post a couple more pics showing the firewall side of the SR?

I seem to have one "extra" female connection that I cannot remember what get attached!

My 87 has been sitting half apart for over a year and I am finally trying to finish the SR install....

Thanks

Looks good bob....that baby was a long time in coming! Nothing better than the feeling of completing a job and stepping back from it and taking a final look.....well perhaps romping on it from a dead stop is pretty cool too!

see you around...keep us posted on the progress.
