Does anyone know of a way to pull the pulley off the pump aside from using "a pwer steering pulley puller?"
Thought maybe someone here might have a quick, simple method.
Thanks
I don't know of any other way either. I had to buy a puller when I was working on my 92. It was just as cheap to buy a lower end puller as it was to rent one. Bought mine from a local speed shop for around $35. Some foreign made brand but good enough for the weekend warrior.
No other way to get it off without bending the pulley or cracking it if its plastic.I bought the proper puller/installer tool and it worked great to remove and replace.
Most of the chain stores such as Autozone, will rent them for free. Leave a deposit and get it back when you return the puller.
I also use the local Autozones to "rent" special tools. Got a bunch for the last engine overhaul. Here, you "buy" it with a credit card (or cash, I guess) and then return it when done for a credit on the card. I don't have to return them to the same store and they haven't screwed-up my card to date. I think it's one of the best programs I've ever seen, gets me comming there for other stuff (the intent, of course) but do check the stuff before you leave the store. Sometimes the last guy forgot to return a special bolt, nut or whatcamacallit that goes with it.
