I have a '94 with sport seats both of which are power. Today I removed both of my seats to clean the carpet under them. Upon reinstalling them now only the drivers seat will move forward, backward or up and down. The drivers seat moves no matter which position the selector switch is in (Driver or Passenger). The lumbar support still work in both seats, and is selected by using the same selector switch. Can't beleive how dirty it was under the seats, the person who owned the car before me must have been a pig. At least I found $.94.
I had this exact problem on my 95. It was swapped connectors under the driver's seat. It's easy to fix. Pull off the driver's seat bottom cushion, and find the wires coming off the adjustment motors (under the seat cushion "pan"). Follow those wires to the connector. Find the other connector on another set of wires in the same bunch that looks exactly the same as the connector on the wires from the adjustment motors. Swap the mating connectors on those two sets of wires. On mine, the correct connections had smaller gauge wires connected to larger gauge wires on both sets of connectors, which still doesn't make sense to me, but that's what worked and it hasn't been a problem.
Jeff S thanks alot, as soon as I read your thread I went out to the driveway and swapped the connectors, everything works fine. It really makes no sense the way they have the connectors under there. First there are two plugs which are exactly alike, why not one different from the other, second one female and one male have blue and grey wires coming into them, the other's have red, orange, black and green. I thougt the plugs with the same color wiring would go together, WRONG. At one point on putting the seats back in I did connect them the right way but figured it was wrong after looking at the color of the wires, unplugged them and hooked them up in what was the wrong way, when the Passenger seat would not work I thought I had blown a switch or something by hooking them up what I thought was wrong. Whew! Once again thanks Jeff S.
All right! Glad you got it fixed. I agree, that wiring certainly is confusing. My guess as to why it's that way, after looking over the shop manual while trying to fix it on mine, is that it's because of the option for the passenger power seat. It looks like without that option, when only the driver's seat is powered, the wires from the adjust switch plug directly into the motors and there's only one set of connectors. With the option, that connection is opened and a jumper cable is plugged in between that routes the adjust switch wires to relay(s) controlled by the seat selector switch, and the relay(s) route the adjust switch signals to the selected seat. Because the jumper cable plugs into the same connectors as in the non-option case, it uses the same mating connectors. It looks like what happens when the connectors get swapped is that the car is hooked up like it doesn't have the passenger power seat option and the jumper cable is just plugged into itself. At least it's an easy fix, but it would have been nice to have some connector labels or something, huh?
