I recently purchased one for my '93. Does having an aftermarket chip have an effect on the readings? I ask because the data is all over the place. It says that I am doing 131 mph all the time, O2 sensors jump around but are rediculously low. Nothing makes much sense. Is it the scanner, chip, or something else?
I believe the chip is simply calibration and wouldn't affect the OBD output. I've a 6000 and an aftermarket chip and it works just fine.
Are you sure you have the right year and VIN engine code set on the tool? You use the OBD cable, or the blue OBD-II for a '93? Maybe the scanner is just messed up. Do you have any other cars you can try it out on?
Listen to Aurora40, I have a 6000 and it took three scanners before I got one that worked correctly on my 93! The first two both worked fine on all of my Chrysler cars but not the Vette. I kept calling until I got a guy named Greg Priddy who worked with me until I got a working scanner, good luck.

Thanks for the name. I got it working, but it only works for about 20 seconds, then losses communication with the ECM. I'll try to get hold of this Greg.

Quiting after a short period of normal operation sounds very similar to the problems I had with my 6000, seems like they have some issues, best of luck, be persistent.
I just talked to some other guy at autoxray and they are going to send me a new cable first, and if that doesn't work, I'll send the unit back. I've hooked up scanners from MacTools and Snap-On and they work great, but way out of my price range.

Yep, I now have two 12 pin cables too! Hope it takes care of your problem but don't hold your breath.
