Brake Bleeding Question

If you're using a vacuum unit to bleed your brakes after a master cylinder change, do you still need to bench bleed the master cylinder?

You should bench bleed the new master cylinder before bleeding the rest of the system. Bench beeding can be done before you install the mew m/c on the car. That's why they call it "bench" bleeding

Since you have a convenient bleeder it would be a good time to flush out the brake system with fresh fluid.

I just installed C5 brakes and a DRM bias spring & didn't know if using a vacuum brake bleeding kit at the calipers eliminated the need to bench bleed the master cylinder. Guess I'll still do it.

Nope. Sorry to say you are stuck benching it.
