Ive been having all kinds of problems with my headlights. I recently put in a conversion to the xenon bulbs, and am still having problems where sometimes when I want the headlights to go down, one will, but the other wont budge. If I tighten the manual adjust It goes down. A few times later though it'll just do it again. Im trying to get that screw REALLY tight, but worried Ill over tighten. I know I have to twist prettty hard to get it to go down as it is.... Plus when the headlights do work they're really clunky and not nearly as smooth as Id like.... Is this an easy fix or are others experiencing the same thing?

Sounds like your headlight motor is going out. The plastic gears inside tend to get stripped and sometimes they will find a "dead spot" where it won't budge 'till you move the motor by hand.
Just so you know you're not the only one with this problem, my drivers side motor has been broken for a few weeks now, and I dread the headlight motor swap, so I'm putting it off. I'll have to eventually fix it, but its no fun. Good luck.
What do you mean "tighten the manual adjust"? I'm don't mean to be word picky, I assume you mean turn the manual adjustment. If this is the case it's most likely as lowflyer suggests. I just rebuilt both my 91 motors with the $5 bushing kit. The hardest part was getting to the point of motor removed. After that it was pretty easy. You'll have to remove the motor to replace it anyway, why not rebuild it at that point yourself? Although I've noticed that the headlight set-up varies from year to year I would think 90 and 91 are the same. Having just done it I'd be happy to help or walk you through it. It's a minimum skill, minimum tools thing........Frank
Well.... I believe about a year ago we already replaced the bushings in this motor. I dont remember how my dad did it, Ill be doing it this time. What I mean by tightening it is, after you close or open the light manually, there is a point where the **** begins to get tight, the tighter I get it, it seems to operate more consistently..... Thoughts?
