Default Cat removal ?
Can you remove the cats without dropping whole exhaust?

Yes you can, but it's ALOT easier to remove the rear exhaust section first. A couple of the hanger bolts on the cats can be a real pain getting off, assuming a LT-1. If it's a convertible you have to drop the X-brace first.

If you aren't reinstalling the factory cats. I would use a cut-off wheel/sawzall to remove the drivers side cat bracket.

I would cut off that bracket either way.

I removed them from the engine I put in bastet44's car.
