Default fuel pump wiring

Hey guys I am installing an ATI procharger on my 87 and it wants me to wire it to the fuel pump relay. The wires colors they are asking for I can't locate at the rear of the car, do I need to reun wire from the front to the rear for this or am I just missing something here. Thanks.

Also the fuel pump is not marked in or out. Which side is the in? Is it the side with the wires?

You cannot power the new pump directly off the existing wiring- it won't carry enough current. Run a new power wire (decent size) from the terminal block by the battery back to the new relay for your pump. This new relay will be turned-on by the existing power wire for your in-tank pump. Follow the wires from the top of the tank; hopefully you can find the color. If not, use a voltmeter and have a friend turn the ignition on. The wire that goes from 0 to 12V for a few seconds then back to 0 is the power lead.

Or be lazy like me and just buy the kit from Racetronix a CF supporting vendor. http://www.racetronix.com/

OK I have all of that done the only thing left confusing me is the grounds. The book says to ground the neg. of the pump to the relay then later it says to run a ground from the pump to the bracket behind the license plate. Which is it? To the relay or the car?

The pump gets grounded to the pump bracket bolt which is bolted to the rear subframe of the vette. Power for the relay comes from the junction box, and trigger for the relay comes from the factory pump power wire (gray, maybe??).

Assuming your relay is switching the 12V power, both the fuel pump negative and relay coil negative should be grounded directly to the chassis.

(The other hookup is where 12V power goes straight to the pump, and the relay switches the ground; radiator fan works this way for instance)
