Default injectors again

O.K. I installed ford 24# injectors ,preasure regulator ,set at 35# and still rich in closed loop.Question is ,should I go to 19# ,22# injectors and increase preasure,
or decrease preasure on 24#'s
I'm looking to increase milage more than preformance.Any help or thoughts would be great.
Thanks,
Randall

Just how rich is it? And what are the BLM numbers during closed loop. If they are well within the control parameters of the ECM then your fuel milage should not be affected once the ECM enters closed loop. Even if the ECM prom was programmed for the proper size injectors the BLM numbers are not always at the perfect 128 or that it would remain at "zero" correction. It is constantly correcting and with the older cars, I typically see BLM numbers at around 124 or slightly less.

not sure but I have a set of 22lb ford injectors I was going to install on my '93 but hesitated because someone said the fit was not good and it could cause vac leaks. how did yours fit? maybe drop your pressure to 32 psi

To the OP, your stock size injectors are 22 lb. I ran into the same problem when installing 24# injectors in my 86. I'm in the process of going to stock injectors as we speak. With out getting a scan you will not know where the BLM is. Mine was at 108 closed loop...rich. I even droped my fuel pressure to 34 psi vac on or 39 psi vac off.

In reading the words of your post "and still rich in open mode", this is a normal situation as the open mode engine parameters are programmed into your ECM chip. However, the open mode usually lasts a few minutes and this should not cause you fuel mileage issues. Do you know the BLM readings in the closed loop operation? This is what will impact your fuel mileage and performance. TJWONG's comments are right on!

Listen to Tjwong, he is a tuner and deals with injector stuff all day long, u need 22# injector's and FMS flow little higher than stock injector's, FMS #24 = #26.5 stock injector's just keep in mind, someone correct me if iam wrong here.

I have #24 FMS and BLM readings are 124-128 and chip is burned by Tjwong. FP set at 39 psi w/vacum hooked.

I'm sorry I meant closed loop after warm up and run. Don't know what the BLM is yet. How do I find out, new to this.
Thanks,

BLM=block learn mode, it's the long term fuel trim (long term in computer lingo is misleading) but you need a scanner to view the BLMs.

For best results you are going to need to scan it and modify the tune.
