Forumuser redrose was my inspiration getting a cheap DIY solution ...
As I have the bigger ZR-1 alternator it was necessary to modify the hood a little bit. Now there is much more space above the alternator than necessary ... the belt I used is 81.5" long. The alternator is supported with three brackets - one connected to the intake manifold, one down to the water pump and one to the power steering pump.
The welds could be much better looking. It seems like I had some problems with contact at the earth terminal.
The hood mod is very simple and the outside was not touched by the cut-off wheel. It is just the hollow section which is cut (much bigger section than needed). Today I'll paint it black and reinstall the headers.
With the smaller 105A alternator the hood mod is not necessary.
